Ibiza – Time for Reflection and Refocus

I went to Ibiza and didn’t take a pill to look cool.  Visiting this island in September this year was a break from what was a dark summer. I needed time to reflect and refocus. Losing a close family member is the hardest thing to go through and changes you forever…

Was amazing to have my family with me and even though I planned to take 6 days off from training and…well everything in life – it didn’t quite go to plan. I did ditch my intermittent fasting routine for the all inclusive food but I could not make myself blowout on the foods from the devil and opted for healthy omelettes and carrot juice, chicken, veg, lamb and beef….plus lots of melon. I did have the odd beer as it was so damn hot and a couple of 1 inch by 1 inch cakes in the evening during the week.

But I had this burning fire inside me.

January to June this year has been pretty epic in terms of training, my running and parkour challenges through Europe. Although brief, challenges seeing the countries I had yet to visit…it relighted the idea and plan of long term challenges and travel from 4-5 years ago that were delayed because of life.

Back to Ibiza – Initially, the quiet pockets of alone time were incredibly difficult thinking about the loss in my life. I had to go that place to make it to the next place. Using some powerful mindfulness training- I focused the mind on my life to come. On day one I knew if I was to embark on the next level of a relentless life, I had to up my game.

Here is the inspirational inducing sunsets that helped me reflect and refocus:

I split my day into 5 parts. Morning and night mental training. This was helped by the sea view room. Being by the water always ignites my mind. Then the physical part. 3 physical sessions a day. I took the day I flew back as a rest day lol. The gym at the resort was a 90’s throwback and empty apart from one cool dude Serbian former wrestler who i bonded with and shared a private joke about the obese people poolside gorging on French fries. Shame on me for fat shaming!! Anyway running, weights, burpees, rowing, calisthenics and core training everyday. Those with a family know what little time one has alone so I was laser focused with the little time I had. Here is a pic of my end of trip non-intermittent fasted beer belly 😉

Everything hurt that week. My muscles, my mind, my lungs and my heart. But I knew my calling was reignited and I knew what i had to in the coming months to realise my vision and potential…and include my family in the process.

Training Hard for me…my sponsors and most importantly for my family!
