Obstacle season is here and even though I am scaling this down to accommodate Triathlons later this year, I still get excited when taking part in these events.
The Gauntlet Games – a 5km and 20 obstacles race:
Here was my favourite obstacle filmed on my new Go Pro Hero 4 (POV view which btw is insanely brilliant):
In truth, a nice way to ease into obstacles running after a winter of flat running. Gauntlet Games was fun and not serious like Spartan challenges but seeing other participants smiling rather than crying in pain is a nice sight for a change. The obstacles were toned down so participants enjoyed the event and I did see many runners who still struggled and not fit enough…maybe they should vet this. Climbing a haystack, dodging basketballs thrown by the gladiators, waterslides, and cargo net scarmbling all added up to a what felt like a entree to the Pain i will feel for my 3rd visit to Spartan later this Summer.
Fitness wise I am in good shape…My training everyday challenge has helped there but i still think I have a way to go to do well at Spartan and i’m only 50% from being fit for the Patagonian Challenge.
Have to focus on getting my swimming right for the autumns triathlons so intensive sessions are planned.
Stay fit…Stay Healthy
